UTComp

UTComp is a mutator for Unreal Tournament 2004 meant to be used in competitive matches on ladders or in cups. The main features are brightskins and hitsounds (among others), as well as some gimmicks like coloured player names and messages.

Brightskins allow the player to choose a different skin colour for teammates and opponents - besides red and blue, any other colour is possible as well. This fixes the problem of dark skins not being seen that good in general and lightness-wise broken maps (like DM-Compressed) in particular. UTComp allows the teammate and opponent skins to be forced to a given model as well, according to the player's preferences.

Hitsounds are another great feature as it gives acoustic feedback about your shots hitting an opponent (or teammate) or not. Furthermore, CPMA-style hitsounds even give feedback about the amount of damage the shot did, by modifying the hitsound pitch according to the damage given.

Coloured player names are a nice feature which doesn't improve the playability at all, but for sure adds more individualisation to the player name. If you like to create colour gradients in your player name, have a look at the UTComp Player Name Colouriser.

The UTComp configuration panel can be opened by entering "mymenu" into the in-game console while being connected to a UTComp-enabled server. By default, UTComp binds that command to the F5 key, so maybe hitting that key will open the UTComp configuration panel as well. The options are more or less self-explaining, however, it is recommended that you still read the documentation which is included in the UTComp archive/package downloadable from the UTComp website for a full description of all its options and features.
